Today we had free time outside where we had a contest on who could build the best snowman and inside we had all kinds of challenges. We won all kinds of treats and stuff. It was exciting! 'Amu Nasr told us many stories and was given an plague of appreciation for 20 years of running the Islamic School. So sorry you missed it.  I hope to see you all next time we have school on a snow day.

About Turning In Homework:

• All homework must be turned in Saturday morning to be graded and returned the next Saturday.
  
  
• One letter grade will be deducted from assignment turned in late (Sundays). (example: an A will become a B or 100% will become 80%
  
  
• I will not accept homework that is a week overdue for no VALID reason.

What we did our first day of school:

1. Went to the Masjid to see what classroom we would be in this year. Class Tawheed is in the same classroom as of now but may be moved to another room. I will update parents on that soon Insha-Allah.
   
   
2. Yesterday we went over our classroom policies and put together our very first "Classroom Constitution", refer to the student behavior plan for more details.

Next Week Test is on "The Pillars of Salaah"

The Pillars of Salaah are the things that must be done in order for your Salaah to be accepted. 

All classes will be tested on this so please study for it.

1. Takbiratul Ihram: to enter into Salaah saying 'Allahu Akbar'.
2. Al-Qiyam: standing erect (up straight) for Al-Fatiha.
3. The Qira'ah: recitation from Qur'an; saying Al-Fatiha in each Rak'ah.
4. The Rukou, rising after Rukou and standing erect (up straight)

There was school Sunday and we had so much fun!

Everything you missed:

• Morning: Staying outside most of the morning playing in the snow, building snowmen and throwing snow balls. Sara even tried to throw a snowball at me 'Khala Tyseer' but I ran into the Masjid (I'm a scaredy cat). Pictures
  
• Lunch:    Being surprised with an early lunch and a  PIZZA PARTY in which we ate together with all the other classes in the Masjid.

During class hours in cases of emergency, please contact ‘sister Inaz or brother Nasr instead of the teacher.   If a parent needs to speak with his/her child(ren), s/he should contact sister Inaz or brother Nasr. They will see to it that you reach your child(ren).

Dar Al-arqam is allowing a both to be set up on Saturday December 24, 2011 for parents who want their child(ren) to participate. The fee is $35.00 per child and books will be handed out in order to study for the quiz.
